The Bible.......What do you think of it?
Down through the ages there have been people who hated the Bible. In the Bible itself there is the story of a king who so hated the Word of God that he both cut and burned God's book [Jeremiah 36:1-23]. In later centuries, some men have paid with their lives for the hatred which others had for the Bible. Even today there are those who hate the Bible. They hate it, as men did of old, because of its condemnation of sin and because of its demand that men submit themselves to the will of God. Others have been indifferent to the Bible. There are those today who say that the Bible was of value to the people of the first century but that it is a "back number" so far as we of the twentieth century are concerned. They contend that the Bible was written to meet situations which prevailed in the first century but that times have now changed so much that what the Bible has to say is not relevant to the problems which men of the twentieth century face day by day. But there are others who love the Bible and believe with all their hearts that the Bible is the inspired Word of God [2 Peter 1:20,21]. Such people believe that even though times have changed from the first century, the Bible has the same power to save souls that it did in the first century [Romans 1:16] and is just a relevant to the problems of life as it was in the first century. They believe that it furnishes man completely unto every good work [2 Timothy 3:16,17]. They heartily disagree with the view that the Bible is a "back number", and maintain the view that it provides man with God's answer to the profound questions of human life because it is the one and only authorative and all sufficient guide in all things that pertain to salvation and godly living. What do you think of the Bible?
